Investigation into stolen Registry Centre data continues with exceptionally large scope

The Lithuanian Prosecutor General’s Office has confirmed that a pre-trial investigation into the theft of 600,000 real estate registry records is ongoing, with the scope of the case described as exceptionally large, LRT.lt reports.

The investigation was launched on May 22 following reports of unauthorised access to state information systems and related cybercrimes. Authorities suspect that more than 600,000 registry entries may have been illegally copied.

According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the probe remains active, with all necessary procedural steps—including witness interviews, document collection, data analysis, and site inspections—being carried out.

“The volume of data under investigation is exceptionally large, and its assessment requires specialised knowledge and time. While we cannot disclose further details at this stage, we aim to share both interim and final results as soon as possible, given the public significance of this case,” the office stated.

Initial findings suggest the primary target of the criminal activity was data from the Real Estate and Legal Entities Registries, which are provided as a paid service to interested parties under established procedures.
