Fire breaks out at waste management facility in Utena district

A fire broke out at a waste management facility in Utena district on Tuesday, according to Lithuania’s national broadcaster LRT.

The Fire Protection and Rescue Department reported that at 18:49, a fire was reported at the Utena Regional Waste Management Centre in Mockėnai village, on Sąvartyno Street. The fire involved waste stored at the landfill.

By the time firefighters arrived, employees of the waste management centre had already extinguished the blaze using powder fire extinguishers.
