Environment ministry welcomes two new deputy ministers and a chancellor

The Lithuanian Environment Ministry has appointed two new deputy ministers, Asta Rokickienė and Giedrė Riškutė, as well as a new chancellor, Vladislavas Kondratovičius, the ministry announced this week.

Aira Paliukėnaitė, who previously served as a deputy minister, will continue in her role, focusing on nature conservation policy, climate policy, and EU and international relations.

According to the ministry, Rokickienė will oversee construction and territorial planning, while Riškutė will handle environmental protection, pollution prevention, strategic environmental impact assessment, environmental monitoring, state environmental control, and waste management.

Kondratovičius, formerly the interior minister, takes on the role of chancellor. Additionally, Ramunė Muzikevičiūtė-Narmontienė has begun work as the minister’s communication advisor, having previously served in a similar role for MP Rūta Miliūtė.

Environment Minister Ieva Andriulaitytė stated that the new deputy ministers have years of experience in the ministry and deep expertise in their fields, which will help in making important and environmentally sound decisions.

The changes follow the resignation of the Inga Ruginienė government after the ruling coalition was reshuffled, with Mindaugas Sinkevičius announcing his decision to lead a new cabinet. The current coalition consists of the Lithuanian Social Democratic Party, the Democratic Union “For Lithuania,” and the Lithuanian Farmers, Greens, and Christian Families Union factions in the Seimas.
