Possible narcotics found on Lithuanian soldier in Marijampolė
Lithuanian police have launched a pre-trial investigation after discovering suspected narcotic substances on a soldier in Marijampolė, LRT reports.
According to the Police Department, officers detained a Lithuanian soldier (born in 2004) on Kristijono Donelaičio Street in Marijampolė at around 21:48 on Sunday. The soldier, who was off-duty and not in uniform, was found in possession of a sealed plastic bag containing a plant-based substance suspected to be narcotics.
A pre-trial investigation has been initiated for the unlawful possession of narcotic or psychotropic substances without intent to distribute.
In a separate incident, police in the Švenčionys district detained a soldier on Saturday for alleged assault. The Police Department reported that on July 18, at approximately 19:25, a dispute erupted in Pavoverė village between an intoxicated man (born in 1975, with a blood alcohol level of 2.02‰) and a sober man (born in 2001), a Lithuanian soldier. The altercation escalated into physical violence, and both individuals were placed in custody. A pre-trial investigation has been launched for causing physical pain or minor health disorders.
