Lithuanian Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevičius has expressed condolences over the death of Lithuanian volunteer soldier Ignas Kailius in Ukraine, reports ELTA.

“Lithuania has lost a brave and freedom-loving young man who chose to fight where freedom is defended at the greatest risk and the highest price. His life and sacrifice are a testament to the determination not to come to terms with evil and the noble desire to defend those who have been attacked,” Sinkevičius wrote in his message of condolence.

“I sincerely sympathise with the family, loved ones, and fellow fighters of I. Kailius,” the prime minister added.

As previously reported by ELTA, Lithuanian volunteer soldier Kailius died in Ukraine in June. He had earlier been reported missing. According to the news portal 15min, the soldier did not return from a combat mission on June 2. Kailius had travelled to Ukraine in February of this year.
