Weather forecast: Sunday to see brief showers but remain mostly fine
Lithuania will enjoy predominantly pleasant weather on Sunday, though some areas may experience brief showers and possible thunderstorms, according to Janas Voitkevičius, a synoptist at the Lithuanian Hydrometeorological Service, speaking to LRT Radio.
A moderate westerly wind will blow, with gusts reaching 7–12 metres per second. Temperatures are expected to rise to 20–25°C.
As night approaches, a southern cyclone will bring rain to the country, particularly affecting southern and southwestern Lithuania. Rainfall may be heavy in places, accompanied by thunderstorms. Winds will reach 6–11 m/s, with temperatures between 11–16°C.
On Monday, rain will spread across Lithuania, with heavy downpours and thunderstorms in some areas. Winds will strengthen to 8–13 m/s, and up to 20–23 m/s in the northwestern regions. Temperatures will range from 15–20°C, though some eastern areas may see highs of 21–24°C.
Tuesday will see continuous rain moving out of Lithuania, but conditions will remain wet with possible thunderstorms. Winds will gradually weaken, though coastal areas will experience stronger northwesterly to westerly winds, with gusts of 15–20 m/s. Temperatures will reach 16–21°C.
Wednesday’s weather will be similar, with brief showers in many areas. Winds will remain gusty, particularly at night along the coast, with speeds of 15–17 m/s, easing to 15 m/s during the day. Temperatures will stay around 16–21°C.
More significant changes are expected on Thursday, with rain occurring only in places, winds calming, and temperatures rising to 17–22°C.
