Rain and thunderstorms hit Lithuania as residents share dramatic images
A wave of heavy rain and thunderstorms has reached Lithuania, with residents sharing images of downpours and storm clouds across the country, LRT reports.
The precipitation, which first struck coastal areas, has now reached Vilnius. Elena Kliukina, a synoptist at Lithuania’s Hydrometeorological Service, told LRT Radio that an atmospheric front is approaching from the west, warning that rainfall may be intense in some areas.
Social media users have posted videos and photos of torrential rain and strong winds sweeping through parts of the country.
According to the Hydrometeorological Service, short bursts of rain and isolated thunderstorms are expected overnight. Winds will be moderate, coming from the south and southwest, with temperatures ranging between 13°C and 18°C.
On Sunday, brief showers and possible thunderstorms are forecast, mainly in southern regions. Winds will shift to a westerly direction, remaining moderate, with temperatures climbing to 20–25°C.
