Lithuania’s largest drone racing competition to take place in Vilnius
Vilnius will host Lithuania’s largest drone racing competition, “Vilnius kyla!” (Vilnius is rising!), in Vingis Park this Saturday, the city municipality announced.
The event, now in its third and final round of the season, is organized by Vilnius City Municipality together with the capital’s children and youth center “Hobiverse” and “VEE FPV”. Around 60 drone pilots are expected to compete across different age categories, including participants from Latvia and Estonia.
“The drone training tracks in Vilnius have given rise to an initiative that has grown into the largest drone races in Lithuania. A talented generation of drone pilots is emerging, and their skills are particularly important in these times—from smart city solutions to national security,” said Vilnius Mayor Valdas Benkunskas.
The final competition will meet international drone racing standards. Attendees will have the chance to try drone simulators, test their first aid skills, and learn about civil safety in a special zone set up by non-governmental organizations, including the Lithuanian Red Cross, Food Bank, Order of Malta, and Caritas Lithuania.
Simultaneously, Vingis Park will host the “100 Pools Picnic,” an interactive educational event on safe behavior in water and everyday situations, featuring animators, soap bubbles, and other entertainment for children.
