Lithuania will experience cooler temperatures and widespread rain this weekend as a cold atmospheric front moves across the country, the Lithuanian Hydrometeorological Service (LHMT) reported on Friday.

According to forecaster Teresė Kaunienė, Friday night will see partly cloudy skies in the eastern regions with no precipitation expected. Meanwhile, clouds will gradually gather in the west, with possible thunderstorms and coastal rain. A moderate south to southeasterly wind will bring warm and humid conditions, with temperatures ranging from 15°C to 20°C.

On Saturday, the cold front will sweep across Lithuania, bringing short bursts of rain and thunderstorms to many regions. Some areas may experience heavy downpours and hail. Winds will shift to the southwest, strengthening to 8–13 m/s, with gusts of 15–20 m/s possible during thunderstorms. Daytime temperatures will reach 23–28°C, while coastal areas will see around 20–22°C. In Vilnius, rain and possible thunderstorms are expected later in the day, with temperatures between 26–28°C.

Sunday night will be cloudy with clear spells. Showers and thunderstorms are likely in many parts of the country, particularly in the east. Southwest and west winds will reach 7–12 m/s. Overnight temperatures will range from 13–18°C, rising to 21–26°C during the day, and 18–20°C along the coast.

On Monday, a small but moisture-laden southern cyclone will move into Lithuania from the southwest. Heavy rain and thunderstorms are forecast overnight, particularly in the southern and western regions. Winds will be variable, with speeds of 6–11 m/s at night and 8–13 m/s during the day. In western Lithuania, westerly and northwesterly winds will strengthen, with gusts of 15–20 m/s inland and up to 25 m/s on the coast. Temperatures will range from 11–16°C overnight, with daytime highs of 15–20°C in most regions, though some eastern areas may reach 21–24°C.

The cyclone is expected to linger over Lithuania on Tuesday, bringing further rain, locally heavy, and variable winds of 8–13 m/s. In western regions, gusts may reach 15–20 m/s, and up to 23 m/s on the coast. Overnight temperatures will drop to 10–15°C, with daytime highs of 14–19°C. Northwesterly and westerly winds will persist, with speeds of 9–14 m/s inland and 15–20 m/s on the coast.
