Tomas Daukantas appointed as government chancellor

Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevičius has appointed Tomas Daukantas as the new chancellor of the Lithuanian government, the BNS news agency reports.

Daukantas began his duties on Wednesday, replacing Eitvydas Bingelis, who had served under former Prime Minister Inga Ruginienė. The prime minister also dismissed Justas Pankauskas from his position as deputy chancellor.

Previously, Daukantas worked as chancellor at the Ministry of Transport. From 2021 to 2024, he led the Law and Personnel Group at the Ministry of Energy. He has also held the position of chancellor at the Ministry of Education, Science, and Sports.
