Video of teen assault in Marijampolė park spreads online, suspect possibly 12-year-old

A video showing a teenage girl assaulting another girl in a park in Marijampolė has spread on social media, prompting a police investigation, LRT.lt reports.

The footage shows a girl seated on a bench with her head down as another teen climbs onto the bench and strikes her repeatedly on the head with a phone. A second girl then takes the phone and continues the assault, also slapping the victim. Several onlookers, including other teens, can be seen watching and laughing, but no one intervenes.

Justė Vasiliauskienė, a senior specialist at the Marijampolė District Chief Police Commissariat, confirmed that a report about the incident had been received. Preliminary information suggests the suspect is a 12-year-old girl. Police launched an investigation on Tuesday evening after receiving a statement from the victim’s mother around 8 p.m.

Authorities have not yet released further details about the circumstances or the victim’s condition. The investigation is ongoing.
