Future officers return to Lithuanian Military Academy on foot after exercises

Future officers from the General Jonas Žemaitis Military Academy of Lithuania returned on foot to the academy on Tuesday after completing two weeks of intensive field tactical exercises, the Lithuanian Armed Forces reported.

The march marked the final test for fourth-year cadets and platoon leader course participants before their graduation from the academy. Following demanding training at a polygon and complex field tactics, the cadets covered over 50 kilometres on foot in full gear.

The journey symbolically concluded their four-year education, during which they studied, trained, and prepared to become officers in the Lithuanian Armed Forces. Upon their return, they were greeted by family, friends, the academy community, and leadership.

Sergeant Margarita Klimienė was awarded for best completing the academy’s Platoon Leader Course, while cadet Dominykas Juzumas was recognised as the best fighter in the Platoon Leader Combat Course. Next week, the academy’s graduates will receive their first officer rank—lieutenant—during a ceremony at Simonas Daukantas Square in the capital.
