Tadas Vinokuras will take up the position of deputy minister of social security and labour, as reported by Lithuania’s public broadcaster LRT, citing the MP Martyna Pikelytė.

Vinokuras, currently an advisor to outgoing Prime Minister Inga Ruginienė, confirmed he had accepted the offer. “I haven’t started work yet. Yes, I accepted it. I am very grateful to Inga Ruginienė for her trust,” he told ELTA.

Previously, Vinokuras worked as a communications advisor in the team of former Prime Minister Gintautas Paluckas. He has also served as a press representative for the Lithuanian Social Democratic Party (LSDP).

Vinokuras holds a bachelor’s degree in musicology and philosophy from Berklee College of Music in the US and a master’s in arts and politics from Goldsmiths, University of London, where he is currently pursuing a PhD in political science.

Following the collapse of Ruginienė’s government, she will return to lead the Social Security and Labour Ministry. The government resigned after the ruling coalition was reshuffled and Mindaugas Sinkevičius announced his decision to form a new cabinet.
