Lithuania is set for a return to summer-like weather this week, with temperatures climbing as high as 28°C, according to Teresė Kaunienė, a forecaster at the Lithuanian Hydrometeorological Service.

Kaunienė said a distant western cyclone will influence the country’s weather in the coming days, bringing cloudy skies overnight from Monday to Tuesday. “Tonight, Lithuania will see partly cloudy conditions, with a chance of light rain in some areas in the evening. The likelihood of rain will decrease later, but patchy fog may form after midnight,” she said.

Weak northwesterly winds will prevail overnight, stronger along the coast, with temperatures ranging from 12°C to 17°C. Tuesday will remain partly cloudy, with scattered showers and possible thunderstorms in northern and eastern regions. Daytime temperatures will reach 22–27°C, with light winds continuing.

From Wednesday, conditions will shift as Lithuania falls under the eastern part of an anticyclone, reducing rainfall. “The night will be mostly clear and dry. The day will be partly cloudy, with brief, light showers possible in the afternoon, mainly in southern regions,” Kaunienė noted. Overnight temperatures will drop to 12–17°C, while daytime highs will again reach 22–27°C.

Thursday will see little change, with clear and calm nights cooling to 11–16°C. Daytime will bring sunny and dry weather to the southwest, though the northeast may see some light rain in the evening. Moderate northwesterly winds will persist, with temperatures in the shade climbing to 23–28°C.

As the weekend approaches, high-pressure conditions will dominate. Friday night will remain calm and dry, with temperatures between 12–17°C. Daytime will see increased humidity, with cumulus clouds forming and bringing short summer showers and possible thunderstorms in some areas. Temperatures will again rise to 23–28°C.

By Saturday, an Atlantic cyclone will reach Lithuania, bringing more widespread rain and strengthening winds. “Saturday will see scattered showers and thunderstorms in many areas. Winds will shift from southeast at night (6–11 m/s) to south and southwest during the day, strengthening to 8–13 m/s, with gusts possible along the coast,” Kaunienė said. Overnight temperatures will range from 14–19°C, while daytime highs will reach 21–26°C, with some eastern areas hitting 28°C.

Sunday will see less rain but remain windy and slightly cooler, according to the forecaster.
