Scammers swindle over €16,000 from two Vilnius residents
Scammers have defrauded two Vilnius residents of more than €16,000, the Vilnius police reported on Saturday, according to LRT.
A 78-year-old woman contacted authorities on Friday, stating that in early June she noticed an investment advertisement on Facebook. After clicking the link and providing her contact details, a Russian-speaking man posing as a financial analyst deceived her out of €12,192.
On the same day, a 63-year-old woman reported that she had lost €4,000 on Thursday in the Ukmergė district. She had clicked a link received via SMS, supposedly for a goods delivery fee, and entered her online banking details.
Police have launched pre-trial investigations into both cases for fraud.
