Scammers have defrauded residents of Klaipėda and Raseiniai district out of nearly €6,500, according to a report by LRT citing police sources.

The Klaipėda County Chief Police Commissariat launched an investigation on Thursday following a woman’s report. She stated that on June 29, after receiving an SMS message, she clicked a link, entered the requested details, and later discovered that €3,100 had been fraudulently withdrawn from her bank account.

In a separate case, a resident of Raseiniai district (born in 1988) may also have fallen victim to scammers. According to the Šiauliai County Chief Police Commissariat, the man transferred €3,372 on February 12 for construction materials and their delivery to a seller-specified account. However, he has yet to receive the goods, and the money has not been refunded. A pre-trial investigation has been initiated into the incident.
