Real Madrid parts ways with coach Scariolo

Madrid’s Real Madrid basketball club has announced the departure of head coach Sergio Scariolo, as reported by LRT.

The decision was made by mutual agreement, the club stated on Thursday. Scariolo had a contract with Real Madrid valid until 2028.

“Madrid’s club thanks the coach for his dedication and professionalism shown in our organisation. The club wishes him and his family all the best in this new stage of their lives,” the club said in a statement.

Last season, under the 65-year-old Italian coach, the team reached three finals—the Spanish Super Cup, the King’s Cup, and the EuroLeague—but lost in all of them. Scariolo joined Real Madrid in 2025.
