Nalšia North constituency awaits candidates until July 13
The Central Electoral Commission (VRK) has announced that candidates for the early parliamentary elections in the single-member Nalšia North constituency can register until July 13, following the Seimas’ decision to hold the vote in November.
According to VRK, the Lithuanian Farmers and Greens Union has already submitted the necessary registration documents. Former presidential candidate Eduardas Vaitkaus has also provided his paperwork, with other potential candidates currently consulting on requirements, as stated by Milda Pocevičiūtė, head of the VRK’s Political Parties and Campaign Financing Control Division.
Lithuanian law requires political parties and independent candidates to register as campaign participants before they can sign contracts or incur expenses for election activities. All campaign income, expenses, and financial obligations must be recorded in the financing accounting log within ten working days and published on the VRK website.
The early election in Nalšia North constituency, scheduled for November 8, follows the unexpected death in May of MP Jevgenijus Šuklinas, who represented the district.
