The Central Electoral Commission (VRK) has announced that candidates for the early parliamentary election in Nalšia’s northern single-member constituency must register by July 13, following the Seimas’ decision to hold the vote on November 8.

According to VRK, the Lithuanian Farmers and Greens Union and former presidential candidate Eduardas Vaitkaus have already submitted the necessary documents. Milda Pocevičiūtė, head of the Political Parties and Campaign Financing Control Division, stated that other potential candidates are also consulting on registration requirements.

Under electoral law, political parties intending to field candidates and independent individuals must register as campaign participants. Once registered, they may sign contracts and order services for campaign expenses. All income, expenditures, and financial commitments must be recorded in the financing accounting log within ten working days and published on the VRK website.

The early election was triggered by the unexpected death of MP Jevgenijus Šuklinas, who represented the constituency.
