Police launch investigation into desecration of chapel in Telšiai district

Lithuanian police have launched a pre-trial investigation into the desecration of a chapel in the Telšiai district, as reported by LRT.

According to the Telšiai County Chief Police Commissariat, the chapel dedicated to the Virgin Mary in Pasruojė village was found vandalised on June 27. Sacred images were scattered, stained-glass windows were shattered, and an indoor shrine was overturned. Additionally, an outdoor cross was uprooted and thrown into the chapel, while an outdoor shrine was also knocked down.

Authorities are assessing the material damage caused and have initiated the investigation under charges of desecration of a grave or other place of public veneration.
