Lithuanian Forensic Science Centre to be led by Matusevičė

The Lithuanian Forensic Science Centre will be led by Daiva Matusevičė starting from Tuesday, the Justice Ministry announced.
Matusevičė won a selection process organised by the ministry and was officially appointed director of the institution. “I am pleased with the trust placed in me and the opportunity to lead this important expert institution,” she was quoted as saying in the announcement.
She added: “I am committed to working diligently with the Lithuanian Forensic Science Centre team to ensure timely, objective, and high-quality expert examinations essential for the administration of justice in Lithuania.”
Matusevičė holds a master’s degree in law from Vilnius University and a PhD in legal sciences. She also earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in architecture from Vilnius Gediminas Technical University.
Her previous roles include working as a lawyer, serving as deputy minister of the environment, working as a forensic expert for a decade, lecturing at Vilnius Gediminas Technical University, and holding leadership positions at the Lithuanian Union of Architects.
The Lithuanian Forensic Science Centre is a state institution under the Justice Ministry, responsible for forensic examinations, criminal investigations, and scientific research. Its primary mission is to objectively and thoroughly investigate evidence in criminal cases and provide expert support to courts, prosecutors, and pre-trial investigation bodies.
