Lithuanian communications battalion soldiers deploy to NATO-led operation in Turkey

Soldiers from Lithuania’s Grand Duke Kristupas Radvila Perkūnas Communications and Information Systems Battalion (PRISM) have deployed to Adana, Turkey, for a six-month NATO-led international operation, the Lithuanian military announced.

The mission, part of NATO Support to Türkiye (NS2T), aims to bolster Turkey’s air defence capabilities against potential missile and chemical threats from Syria. The PRISM module’s primary role will be to provide reliable command and control support through communications and information systems, facilitating secure data exchange among allies to assist the operation’s leadership.

The deployment contributes to international efforts to support peace and security in the region. According to the Lithuanian military, the NATO-led operation enhances Turkey’s air defence network, integrating a sophisticated ground-to-air missile defence system linked to NATO’s broader air defence infrastructure.

The PRISM module, the only Lithuanian unit of its kind permanently assigned to NATO forces under the 3rd Communications Battalion, has participated in international operations since 2013. Its personnel regularly undergo advanced training in NATO member states and take part in alliance exercises and real-world missions.

The mobile communications and information systems module provides deployable command and control support to NATO’s temporary and relocatable headquarters.
