Prosecutor’s office launches investigation into prosecutor accused of domestic violence

The Lithuanian Prosecutor General’s Office has launched a pre-trial investigation into Kaunas Regional Prosecutor Juozas Bagdonavičius, who is suspected of domestic violence, LRT reports.
Prosecutor Nida Grunskienė initiated the investigation on Saturday following a complaint alleging that Bagdonavičius had physically assaulted a family member. The case involves charges of causing physical pain, minor health disorders, threats to kill or seriously harm, and terrorising a person.
According to a statement from the Prosecutor General’s Office, a conflict arose among family members on Saturday, during which an adult sustained injuries and received threats. The injured party sought medical attention for their injuries.
Earlier, the Police Department reported that the prosecutor is suspected of assaulting his wife on Saturday. Authorities stated that a 69-year-old woman was taken to a hospital in Kaunas at around 17:47 after being beaten by her husband, a 60-year-old prosecutor, during a domestic dispute at around 16:30 the same day.
The pre-trial investigation aims to establish the factual circumstances of the incident and assess them. Results will be announced upon completion of the investigation.
