Lithuania’s new court information system should be fixed by September, says justice minister

Lithuania’s troubled new court information system (LITEKO) should be resolved by September, Justice Minister Rita Tamašunienė told lawmakers on Thursday, citing preliminary data from the National Courts Administration (NTA).

The minister called the decision to launch LITEKO II without additional testing “an unconsidered step,” but warned that reverting to the old system would be too costly.

“LITEKO I is archived. According to the NTA, restoring it would require an additional €1 million,” Tamašunienė said.

Since its update in early June, LITEKO has faced persistent issues, prompting the Council of Judges to recommend submitting procedural documents through alternative means. The ministry has requested that institutions under its supervision provide analysts and IT specialists to assist the NTA in addressing the situation.

LITEKO II was developed by Proit from 2019, but the company was later blacklisted over its work on the Social Support Information System (SPIS). The system is currently overseen by Novian Pro.
