Eight bodies found in Lithuania, three recovered from water

Eight bodies were discovered in Lithuania over the past day, with three recovered from water, according to reports from police and firefighters cited by LRT.

In Pagėgiai municipality, a body was found in a swamp near Pavilkių village at around 20:21, about two metres from the shore. Firefighters retrieved it and handed it over to police.

In Visaginas municipality, firefighters recovered the body of a woman born in 1970 from Lake Visaginas at approximately 06:47. Medics confirmed her death.

In Panevėžys district, a man’s body, born in 1988, was found in the Nevėžis River in Naujamiestis at around 21:30.

Five additional bodies were discovered in Kaunas, Anykščiai, Vilkaviškys districts, and Ukmergė. In Vilkaviškys, a man born in 1969 was found in a forest in Balčiūnų village at 09:09. In Kaunas district, the body of an unidentified man, approximately 60–65 years old, was found in a house in Teleičiai village at around 19:00. In Anykščiai district, two men, both born in 1978, were found dead in separate locations—one in Traupis eldership at 20:13 and another in Levaniškiai village at 20:14. In Ukmergė, a man born in 1987 was found in a stairwell of an apartment building at 03:30 on Thursday night.

Pre-trial investigations have been launched in all cases to determine the causes of death.
