Scammers trick Vilnius district resident out of over €205,000

Scammers deceived a resident of the Vilnius district out of more than €205,000 over several days, LRT reports, citing the Police Department.
A man born in 1961 contacted the Vilnius County Chief Police Commissariat on Monday evening at around 18:50. He reported that between June 18 and June 21, unknown individuals called him at his home in the Vilnius district, posing as bank employees and police officers. Through deception, they convinced him to hand over €150,000 in cash to an unknown man who arrived at his home. Additionally, the victim provided his bank payment card, from which €55,879 was withdrawn.
The total loss amounted to €205,879. A pre-trial investigation has been launched into the incident.
