Lithuania turns back six illegal migrants at Belarus border

Lithuania’s State Border Guard Service reported on Sunday that six illegal migrants were turned back at the border with Belarus over the past day.

According to the service, Latvian border guards repelled 51 migrants on Saturday, while Polish authorities recorded no illegal border crossing attempts on Friday.

This year, Lithuania has denied entry to 811 illegal migrants. In 2025, there were over 1,600 recorded attempts to enter the country from Belarus at unauthorized locations, compared to 1,002 in 2024.

Since the start of the migration crisis instigated by Belarus, Lithuanian border guards have prevented more than 25,000 foreigners from entering the country illegally. The influx of migrants to the EU’s eastern borders via Belarus began in 2021, with Western officials accusing the Minsk regime of orchestrating the crisis.
