A court in Lithuania has extended the detention of Justina Gaigalaitė, the former wife of a murdered paramedic, by three months, LRT reports.

The Panevėžys District Court approved the prosecution’s request to prolong the strictest pre-trial measure for Gaigalaitė, who is suspected of murdering her ex-husband, paramedic Mindaugas Sadauskas. Her previous two-month detention was set to expire on June 21. The defence had requested lighter pre-trial measures for the suspect.

Another suspect in the murder and unlawful deprivation of liberty, Vilius Solkanas, had his detention extended by three months earlier this week. A third suspect, Ilja Solkanas, accused of illegal possession of a firearm, was previously released on bail of €5,000.

Sadauskas’ body was found on April 21 on the grounds of a homestead in the Panevėžys district. Investigators allege the victim’s body was wrapped in a trampoline and buried on the property. A weapon was discovered during the crime scene inspection.

Sadauskas, who ran a trampoline rental and delivery business, had told his father he received an order to deliver a trampoline for a children’s party at a kindergarten. After his disappearance, it was found that the customer’s details had been deleted, and local officials confirmed no such kindergarten existed at the specified location.

Authorities suspect the motive for the murder may be related to personal conflicts.
