One illegal migrant turned away at Lithuania-Belarus border last week
Lithuania’s State Border Guard Service (VSAT) reported that one illegal migrant was turned away at the border with Belarus over the past week.
Latvia’s border service refused entry to 205 migrants on Saturday, while Polish authorities reported no such cases on Friday.
Last year, Lithuanian officials prevented more than 1,600 people from illegally crossing from Belarus, with 776 stopped so far this year. Since the start of the migration crisis triggered by Belarus, around 25,300 illegal migrants have been denied entry into Lithuania.
The influx of migrants to the eastern EU countries began in 2021, with Western nations accusing Minsk of orchestrating the crisis.
