Man opens fire on police in Jonava, later arrested

A man who fired shots at police officers in Jonava on Saturday evening has been arrested, LRT reports.

The incident began around 9:51 PM on June 13, when police received a report of a possibly intoxicated relative attempting to break into an apartment on P. Vaičiūno Street. Upon arrival, the man fired multiple shots and fled the scene.

A search operation was launched, and at approximately 2:00 AM, officers from the Police Anti-Terrorist Operations Unit “Aras” located and detained the suspect in a building in Jonava. The man resisted arrest, prompting the use of special measures. He refused to undergo sobriety testing.

The suspect has been taken to the Kaunas County Police Headquarters detention facility.
