Farmers and Greens would not oppose prime minister change: it is a Social Democrat decision

The Farmers and Greens Union (LVŽS) would not oppose a change in prime minister, as this is a decision for the Social Democrats, party leader Aurelijus Veryga told journalists at the Seimas on Thursday, as reported by BNS and LRT.

“I wouldn’t say it’s necessary, but if there is a change, we will certainly not oppose it, because this is a Social Democrat decision. I’m talking about the prime minister—this is their choice, how they see who should take on that leadership from their side,” Veryga said.

The future of current Prime Minister Inga Ruginienė remains unclear. Social Democrat chairman Mindaugas Sinkevičius has said he is ready to take responsibility for implementing changes if the party decides to replace the New Union (Democrats) with the Democratic Union “For Lithuania” in the ruling coalition.
