Man charged with murder in Marijampolė, case sent to court

The Kaunas Regional Court has received a murder case from Marijampolė, the Prosecutor General’s Office announced on Wednesday.

A 24-year-old man, identified as A. S., is accused of killing a guest at his home following a dispute. According to the investigation, the suspect attacked the victim in October last year after an argument over previous insults. It is alleged that A. S. struck the man in the head with an axe and stabbed him multiple times. The victim died at the scene from his injuries.

During the pre-trial investigation, the suspect admitted his guilt. Under the Criminal Code, murder carries a prison sentence of seven to 15 years.
