A woman in Vilnius fell victim to fraudsters twice in a year, losing a total of more than €18,000, police reported on Tuesday, according to LRT.
The 47-year-old victim first lost €10,000 last February after investing in an online platform. A year later, in February 2026, unidentified individuals contacted her online, claiming they could help recover her lost funds through further investments. She was then defrauded of an additional €8,000.
In a separate case, another 47-year-old woman reported that unknown callers posing as bank employees and police officers tricked her into handing over her payment card. The scammers withdrew over €7,000 from her account before returning to her home days later, where she gave them nearly €4,000 in cash.
Police have launched pre-trial investigations into both fraud incidents.
