Lithuania to see sharp cooldown and heavy rain midweek
Lithuania’s warm summer weather will give way to heavy rain and cooler temperatures by midweek, the country’s hydrometeorological service warned on Sunday.
While Tuesday will still bring highs of 27°C, a cold front moving through on Wednesday will trigger widespread showers and thunderstorms, meteorologist Paulius Starkus told public broadcaster LRT.
Monday night will see lows of 8–13°C, with patchy fog reducing visibility in many areas. Daytime temperatures on Tuesday will reach 22–27°C, though scattered showers may develop in western regions by late afternoon.
The cold front will sweep across Lithuania overnight into Wednesday, bringing short but intense downpours. Winds will pick up but remain moderate. Daytime highs will drop to 17–22°C, with western gusts and increasing cloud cover.
A moisture-laden low-pressure system arrives Thursday, blanketing much of the country in thick cloud and heavy rain—some with thunder. Highs will struggle to reach 14–19°C, with only the eastern border regions staying slightly warmer.
Conditions improve slightly Friday as the system moves east, though scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms remain possible. Temperatures will climb to 16–21°C by day, with overnight lows of 7–12°C. The unsettled, cooler pattern is expected to persist through the weekend.
