The Lithuanian army’s Iron Wolf Brigade is holding its annual commemoration in Panevėžys on Saturday, marking 34 years since the unit was officially named, BNS reports.

Colonel Darius Meilūnas, commander of the Iron Wolf Brigade, said the choice of Panevėžys was deliberate, calling the city the “true home” of one of its key subunits—the King Mindaugas Hussar Battalion.

The ceremony at Unity Square will include a review of the brigade’s history, the presentation of honorary Iron Wolf insignia, and tributes at the monument to Lieutenant Colonel Jonas Variakojis. A historic cannon salute and a performance by the Land Forces Orchestra are also planned.

Winners of the traditional “Iron Team” military competition will be awarded, while the public can inspect infantry fighting vehicles, armoured personnel carriers, artillery and logistics equipment, modern small arms, and drones. Interactive displays will allow visitors to test their strength by holding a mine or carrying a shell, as well as practice using a compass or drone simulators.
