A severe storm moved across Lithuania on Friday evening, bringing hail to Antanava and strong winds that tore roofs off buildings in Kaunas, according to reports from LRT.lt and the state news agency ELTA.

The Lithuanian Hydrometeorological Service recorded short but intense thunderstorms in multiple regions, with the heaviest downpours in Kaunas, Tauragė, Panevėžys, and Šiauliai districts. The storms are expected to shift northeastward, accompanied by brief heavy rain, thunder, and wind gusts reaching 15 m/s in some areas.

Residents shared images and videos in the Facebook group “Weather Enthusiasts” showing downed trees in Antanava after a hailstorm, as well as footage of torrential rain in Kaunas, Radviliškis district, and Joniškis. In Kaunas, the storm caused structural damage, including roofs ripped from buildings.

Power outages affected thousands of customers due to the storm, according to the national electricity grid operator’s map.

Meteorologist Simona Dalinkevičiūtė noted that while weekend weather will remain warm, scattered showers and thunderstorms are likely. Friday night will see temperatures drop to 11–16°C, with winds shifting from southeast to southwest at 6–11 m/s, occasionally strengthening to 15–17 m/s during thunderstorms.

Saturday is expected to bring partly cloudy skies with isolated showers, mainly in the northeast, and daytime highs of 18–23°C. Sunday will see decreasing cloud cover, light winds, and a slight chance of rain in the southwest, with temperatures climbing to 21–26°C—cooler only in the Curonian Spit.
