Woman hides from husband in hotel but court ruling reveals her location

A Lithuanian woman who fled her home and hid in a hotel to escape her husband’s demands later discovered that a court ruling had exposed her hiding place, *LRT.lt* reports.

The woman, identified only as Agnė, said she feared her husband’s threats and psychological pressure to transfer ownership of her property. After seeking help from a support hotline, she took her child to the child’s father and checked into a hotel for safety.

When authorities arrived, they issued a 15-day protection order against her husband, barring him from the home and requiring him to stay away. However, when the husband appealed, the court overturned the order, ruling that there was no evidence of a real threat and that the couple’s conflict was a long-standing domestic dispute rather than grounds for legal protection.

Agnė was shocked to find that the court’s written decision included the exact address of the hotel where she had stayed—information that was also shared with her husband. Though she had already left by then, the disclosure left her feeling unsafe.

*”I didn’t wait for him to beat me or kill me—I protected myself and my child,”* she told *LRT.lt*.

The case raises questions about whether standard legal practices adequately protect victims when sensitive personal details, such as addresses, are routinely disclosed in court documents.
