Lithuania’s deputy defence minister resigns by mutual agreement

Lithuania’s Deputy Defence Minister Tomas Godliauskas has resigned from his post by mutual agreement, state news agency BNS reported on Tuesday.
Godliauskas confirmed he initiated the decision to step down. He had overseen universal defence and cybersecurity policy since his appointment, serving under both the current defence minister, Robertas Kaunas, and his predecessor, Dovilė Šakalienė.
Before joining the Defence Ministry, Godliauskas was a national security advisor to President Gitanas Nausėda. He previously spent over two decades as an officer in the Lithuanian Armed Forces, holding roles in various units and headquarters. A graduate of the General Jonas Žemaitis Military Academy of Lithuania, he also studied military operations in the United States and Germany.
