Lithuanian president honours 60 parents and guardians for outstanding contributions
Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda has awarded 60 mothers, fathers, and guardians from across the country with the Order for Merits to Lithuania, state news agency ELTA reports.
Speaking at the ceremony on Friday, Nausėda emphasised that the dedication of parents and guardians serves as both an inspiration to society and a foundation for the nation’s future. “Expressed differently but rooted in the same paternal and maternal love, the respectful relationships within families become a source of strength—not only for your children, your families, and your communities, but for the entire state,” he stated.
The president highlighted that the commitment, hard work, and unconditional support of parents shape their children into professionals—doctors, teachers, entrepreneurs, artists, and politicians—who in turn contribute to Lithuania’s prosperity. “Your maternal and paternal love, your perseverance, and your faith have made the world a safer, brighter, and fairer place for future generations,” Nausėda said.
The awards recognise exceptional contributions to parenthood, guardianship, and community leadership, honouring recipients for their responsibility, selflessness, and exemplary role in society. Nausėda extended his wishes for the awardees to be accompanied daily by their children’s love, respect, and gratitude.
