A Lithuanian State Border Guard Service officer has been detained on suspicion of assaulting a man in a Vilnius apartment, police confirmed Friday.

The incident occurred around 11 AM on Pelesos Street in the capital, where the 29-year-old female officer—stationed at the Varėna border unit—allegedly caused physical harm to a 33-year-old man during a conflict, according to the Police Department. The altercation took place while she was off-duty and sober.

Prosecutors have launched a pre-trial investigation for causing physical pain or minor health impairment to a family member or close relative. If convicted, the offense carries penalties ranging from community service to up to two years’ imprisonment.
