North Macedonia to open embassy in Vilnius

North Macedonia will establish an embassy in Vilnius, the country’s foreign ministry announced on Wednesday, according to a report by Lithuania’s public broadcaster LRT.

The move aims to strengthen bilateral cooperation in security, economic, and cultural fields, the ministry stated. Lithuania has consistently supported North Macedonia’s bid for European Union membership, calling EU enlargement a “strategic investment” in Europe’s security, stability, and resilience.

“Lithuania is ready to continue actively sharing its integration experience and practical solutions to help implement EU standards, strengthen institutions, and build resilience against external threats,” the ministry said in its statement.

In 2023, Lithuania opened a section of its embassy in Croatia in the North Macedonian capital, Skopje, led by Ambassador-at-Large Vilma Dambrauskienė.
