Lithuanian MP says nothing found in search of her office and residence

Law enforcement officers conducted searches at the workplace and Seimas-provided accommodation of MP Daiva Petkevičienė on Thursday, with the politician stating that “nothing was found,” reports LRT.

Petkevičienė confirmed to journalists that searches took place at the Seimas guesthouse where she stays, adding that authorities “found nothing.” She arrived at parliament around 10 a.m., two hours after the search began, stating she had come from the guesthouse where the operation was also carried out.

“I was in the room. Call it a dormitory, a guesthouse, whatever you like. They found nothing. I’m not hiding anything. We haven’t done anything wrong,” she told reporters. She declined to disclose details of what officials told her, citing instructions not to speak about the search: “They said not to say anything.”

The MP refused to answer further questions, citing work obligations. “They found nothing—I can disappoint you, you know, because everything is honest and in order. They searched, did their work, found nothing,” she said before entering her office. “I’m late, the 10 a.m. session has started… You’re disturbing me now, I have to work.”

Petkevičienė did not specify what authorities were searching for, repeating only that she was told “not to say anything.”

The searches are part of a broader operation targeting members of the Nemuno aušra (“Dawn of Nemunas”) political group, including its leader Remigijus Žemaitaitis. Earlier reports confirmed that two phones and a computer were seized from Žemaitaitis, though no incriminating materials were found.
