Court to review complaint over detention of paramedic murder suspect Sadauskienė
A Lithuanian court will this week examine a complaint filed by the defence lawyer of Justina Sadauskienė, the ex-wife of murdered paramedic Mantas Sadauskas, challenging her two-month pretrial detention, LRT reports.
The Panevėžys Regional Court received the complaint from attorney Vaidotas Sviderskis last week, according to court spokesperson Jolita Gudelienė. “On Thursday afternoon, we received the complaint from J. Sadauskienė’s defence lawyer,” Gudelienė stated. The court will hear the case on Thursday.
Sviderskis has not disclosed what specific remedies he will seek in contesting the detention order, issued by the Panevėžys District Court. In late April, he told journalists that his client denies all charges in the murder case and, based on available evidence, maintains her innocence.
Sadauskienė is one of three suspects in the killing of her ex-husband, whose body was found on April 21 wrapped in a trampoline and buried on a property in Panevėžys district. A weapon was recovered at the scene. Authorities suspect the motive may be linked to personal conflicts.
While Sadauskienė and another suspect, Vilius Solkanas, remain in custody, a third suspect—Ilja Solkanas, Vilius’s father—was released on 5,000 EUR bail. Sadauskas, who ran a trampoline rental business, had reported delivering an order to a nonexistent daycare centre before his disappearance.
