Kaunas court receives case of exceptionally brutal murder

The Kaunas Regional Prosecutor’s Office has referred a criminal case to court involving a 39-year-old Kaunas resident accused of an exceptionally brutal murder, state broadcaster LRT reports.

According to prosecutors, the suspect allegedly killed a man during a drinking session among acquaintances in mid-November 2025. Investigators state the victim died after the accused inflicted at least two stab wounds and a minimum of 32 blows with hands and feet to various parts of the body within a short timeframe.

The suspect is already known to law enforcement authorities. Under Lithuanian criminal law, murder committed with exceptional cruelty or torture carries a penalty of 8 to 20 years’ imprisonment or life without parole.

The case has been forwarded to the Kaunas Regional Court for trial.
