Vilnius city administration director reports police searches at his home and office

Police have conducted searches at the home and office of Adomas Bužinskas, director of the Vilnius City Municipality Administration, the official announced on social media Thursday. Law enforcement agencies have not yet confirmed the operation.

Bužinskas wrote on Facebook that officers carried out the search after he failed to appear for police questioning regarding the continued use of a street standard later ruled invalid. He claimed, however, that he never received a summons.

“Today, police officers conducted a search at my home and office,” Bužinskas stated. “Preliminary information suggests this was because I did not attend a police interview about the further application of the street standard. But the most interesting part is that I never received a summons.”

The Vilnius County Police Commissariat and other law enforcement bodies told LRT they could not yet confirm whether searches had taken place. Vilnius Municipality representatives also declined to comment.

Bužinskas, currently on leave in Spain, said he learned of the search from his wife and colleagues. He insisted the case relates to a 2019 street standard he signed as deputy director—a document later invalidated by a 2024 court ruling. After the ruling, he said the administration informed staff to stop applying the standard, assuming the matter was closed.

Though no formal summons was found in his personal or work email, Bužinskas said officers took only his grandmother’s tablet, containing family photos. “I respect the officers’ work and thank them for their professionalism and empathy during an unpleasant process,” he added.
