Conservatives lead in party ratings as Farmers and Greens gain support
A new public opinion poll shows Lithuania’s conservative Homeland Union–Lithuanian Christian Democrats (TS–LKD) maintaining their lead, while the Lithuanian Farmers and Greens Union (LVŽS) has surged into second place, overtaking both the Social Democrats and the Liberals, LRT reports.
If parliamentary elections were held this weekend, 15.8% of voters would back the TS–LKD, led by Laurynas Kasčiūnas, according to the latest survey by research firm Spinter tyrimai, commissioned by news outlet Delfi. This marks a slight increase from 15.1% in March.
The LVŽS, headed by Aurelijus Veryga, saw the most significant rise, jumping from 5.5% in March to 8.5% in April, propelling the party from fifth to second place. The Liberal Movement, led by Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen, followed with 7.7% support (down from 8.8% in March), while the Social Democratic Party of Lithuania (LSDP), under Mindaugas Sinkevičius, garnered 7.6% (also down from 8.8%).
The nationalist Nemuno aušra party, led by Remigijus Žemaitaitis, secured 6.6% support, up from 5.9% in March. The National Alliance, the Democratic Union “For Lithuania,” and the Freedom Party rounded out the list with 3.6%, 3.3%, and 2.2% respectively.
Meanwhile, 21% of respondents declined to answer, and 15.2% said they would not vote at all. The survey, conducted between April 18–28, included 1,021 participants aged 18–75, with a margin of error of 3.1%.
