Lithuanian police warn of new SMS scams targeting residents

Lithuanian police have issued a warning about a fresh wave of fraudulent SMS messages designed to trick residents into transferring money, LRT.lt reports.

Scammers are sending fake notifications demanding payment for parking fees and false legal protocols that pressure recipients to sign immediately. Authorities urge the public not to click on any links in suspicious messages.

In a separate case, a 59-year-old Vilnius resident lost over €42,000 after receiving deceptive emails on April 30 claiming to be an invoice for construction materials. A pre-trial investigation into the fraud has been launched.

Police continue to emphasize vigilance as financial scams targeting individuals persist across the country.
