Convicted former MP Kristijonas Bartoševičius arrested at home
Lithuanian police arrested former parliament member Kristijonas Bartoševičius at his residence on Tuesday after he failed to surrender as promised for a prison sentence related to child sexual abuse convictions, LRT reports.
A spokesperson for the Vilnius County Chief Police Commissariat, Julija Samorokovskaja, confirmed to the ELTA news agency that officers detained Bartoševičius at his home. He had previously pledged to turn himself in to authorities but did not appear as expected.
Bartoševičius, a former Seimas (Lithuanian parliament) member, was convicted of sexually motivated crimes against children and sentenced to imprisonment. Further details on the arrest were not immediately provided.
