The Lithuanian Prison Service (LKT) is conducting seven internal investigations after staff members reported to work under the influence of alcohol, state news agency ELTA reports.

Two female officers were found driving while intoxicated last Thursday, prompting disciplinary reviews for potential misconduct. On Monday, three more cases emerged—two officers and one IT employee arrived at work impaired. Two additional non-officer staff members were caught in a similar state on Tuesday, bringing the total to seven incidents under investigation.

LKT emphasised its zero-tolerance policy toward alcohol violations, stating such breaches “pose a threat to both employee and public safety, as well as damage the institution’s reputation.” The service did not disclose which facilities were involved.
