Lithuania to see refreshing rain at the start of the week

Lithuania will experience refreshing rainfall early this week after a period of summer-like warmth, according to forecasts from the Lithuanian Hydrometeorological Service (LHMT).

Meteorologist Teresė Kaunienė told the state news agency ELTA that Monday night will bring variable cloud cover, with brief showers and possible thunderstorms, particularly in the southern regions. Temperatures will remain mild, ranging from 7–12°C in most areas, though western districts may see lows of 3–6°C. Winds will come from the west at 3–8 m/s.

On Tuesday, scattered showers are expected nationwide, with more persistent rain in the south and isolated thunderstorms. Daytime highs will reach 20–25°C in most regions, though western areas will be cooler at 14–19°C, and coastal zones will see just 10–13°C. Winds will shift to the southwest at 5–10 m/s.

Wednesday will bring cooler conditions as a cold front moves across the country. Northern and western regions can expect steady, heavy rain, while the southeast will see brief summer showers and possible thunder. Temperatures will drop to 12–17°C in the northwest and 18–23°C in the southeast. Winds will strengthen from the northeast at 6–11 m/s.

Later in the week, the weather will remain unsettled, with short showers likely in many areas on Thursday. By Friday, high pressure over Scandinavia will clear skies in the northwest, though southern and eastern regions may still see brief rain. Temperatures will gradually recover, reaching 12–17°C by day.

The weekend is forecast to bring drier conditions, with reduced rain chances and more sunshine. Nighttime lows will dip to 4–9°C, while daytime highs will climb to 15–19°C. Winds will ease, shifting from northeast on Saturday to southeast on Sunday.
